Our customer
German National Tourist Board (GNTB)
The GNTB wanted to showcase traditional German Christmas customs in a way that would be interesting for an international travel audience at Christmas time and could be used humorously for communication via various social platforms.
The challenge
German Christmas traditions such as Dresden Christmas stollen or mouth-blown jewelry from Lauscha may have a long history, but they are not necessarily funny or easy to understand in short formats. The task was to present these customs in a maximum of 15-second videos suitable for social media and an interactive map. Care should be taken to ensure that the videos are of interest to both a national and an international audience.

Our solution
This is where our elves come into play! With the likeable little guys, we not only have a recurring, unifying element for the different customs – the humor can also be outsourced to the little rascals in order to focus on regional characteristics. The characterful narrator and the lovely sound design round off the videos perfectly.

Result
The result is 10 crisp clips that have been located on an interactive map on the website of the German National Tourist Board and made explorable. Together they generated 1.76 million views and were also translated into German and French.
From the very beginning, not only the 16:9 landscape format but also 5:4 and 9:16 portrait formats for social media (e.g. Insta stories) were considered and composed.
